2025 National Science Month

Insight on the 2025 National Science Month Celebration Date: September 26, 2025

Each September, Filipinos celebrate National Science Club Month by exploring the theme set by DepEd and partner agencies. For 2025, the proclamation “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation” was issued under Proclamation No. 264, mandating schools to spark curiosity and innovation among learners. This theme urges us to view the unexplored—whether novel materials, untested theories, or emerging technologies—as sources of solutions that can shape our tomorrow.

To bring this theme to life, DepEd’s Advisory 128, s. 2025 encourages schools nationwide to host activities such as quiz bees, sci-spelling contests, investigatory project showcases, and eco-innovation challenges. These events sharpen critical thinking and teamwork, showing students how to apply scientific methods to real-world problems—from reducing plastic waste to designing low-cost water filters. By participating in hands-on experiments and collaborative projects, learners experience firsthand how science drives progress in health, environment, and technology.

Beyond the classroom, the Department of Science and Technology’s Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week exemplifies how government and communities can partner to make science tangible. In Western Visayas, DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. opened the regional celebration, highlighting initiatives like smart agriculture, aquaculture innovations, and disaster-resilient technologies. These exhibits and forums demonstrate that science isn’t confined to labs—it’s deployed in fields, factories, and marketplaces to uplift lives and strengthen local economies.

Looking ahead, the bond between science and society will be anchored by the Philippines’ rising global standing in innovation. This year, the country climbed to 50th place in the 2025 Global Innovation Index, thanks in large part to DOST-backed R&D, talent-development programs, and investments in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and circular economy solutions. Such gains signal that our nation is ready to harness emerging discoveries for sustainable growth and inclusive development.

As students and future leaders, our role is to embrace the unknown—ask bold questions, collaborate across disciplines, and support equitable access to scientific knowledge. By doing so, we honor this year’s theme and help power a future where innovation lifts every Filipino community.

The Filipino Spirit: Resilience in the Face of Adversity

The Philippines, an archipelago of over 7,000 islands, is no stranger to nature’s fury. From typhoons and floods to droughts and rising sea levels, climate change has become an undeniable force reshaping the lives and livelihoods of millions of Filipinos.

Despite these challenges, Filipinos continue to demonstrate extraordinary resilience. Communities have embraced disaster preparedness, early warning systems, and sustainable practices. The government has adopted frameworks like the National Climate Risk Management Framework and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (2020–2030) to strengthen institutional and community resilience.

Efforts to promote a green and blue economy, rehabilitate ecosystems, and transition to low-carbon development are underway. These initiatives aim to create jobs, protect natural resources, and ensure long-term sustainability.

Climate change is not just an environmental issue—it’s a social, economic, and moral one. The Philippines stands at the frontline, but it also leads in resilience, innovation, and community spirit. As we confront the realities of a warming world, the Filipino capacity to adapt, rebuild, and thrive remains a beacon of hope.

Intramurals Celebration

Intramurals are recreational sports activities that are held in schools and played by participants within the same school. This program aims to promote fun, exercise, teamwork, and social development for students and sometimes faculty or staff of al skill levels, offering a wide range of traditional and non-traditional sports in a non-competitive, inclusive environment outside of regular instructional time.

All schools, university, and organizations have this program, including ISNHS. It's an important event that students should join as it helps students have a fun and social environment, it even improves one's mental health and lead to the development of essential social skills like teamwork, cooperation, and leadership.

It matters not what kind of skill level you have as it's an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students to participate, it also foster a positive school culture, enhances self-esteem, and offers a valuable outlet for stress relief. Always have a fun non-competitive spirit when participating in these events, be positive and do your best!
